Day In The Life: February 10, 2020

Hi friends. I documented another random day in our lives last week and wanted to share. This one is pretty similar to last months. I want to start branching out and documenting a day when we aren’t just doing things around the house but I’m really worried I’ll forget to take pictures, haha. Maybe I’ll try next month? We shall see. I’m still planning on doing these once a month.

7:00 am: I’m pretty sure this day I let myself sleep in a bit due to either going to bed too late or not getting great sleep. I have been struggling with getting comfortable lately and also with pregnancy insomnia so it’s been… fun. Occasionally I will sleep in to combat that. I laid in bed for a bit and then got up to do my bible study and have some coffee, but ended up wasting time on my computer doing who knows what until 8. 🙄

8:00 am: When Shane woke up. I put on some TV for him. He’s been really into Beat Bugs on Netflix, which is super cute. I finally make some coffee and sit down to do my bible study. (Btw I’ve been reading the She Reads Truth bible studies since last January and I seriously love them.) I also gave Shane a protein shake and some blueberries to snack on while he watches his show.

9:00 am: After reading my bible study and drinking my coffee I did a little bit of house hunting. Occasionally Tommy and I will look at houses closer to the beach to see if it will at all be possible to eventually move there. We aren’t planning on moving any time soon though!

9:15 am: I make breakfast for myself and Shane. I made waffles for Shane and a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel for me. He seemed more interested in my breakfast than his though of course.

10:00 am: I’m feeling still pretty tired and overwhelmed and stressed about little things that seem to be adding up today so I decided to start cleaning up the house because that always makes me feel better. Here are some before and afters.

12:00 pm: I cleaned for about two hours and got to do the dishes from the morning, vacuum, and folded some laundry. I also read to Shane a bit and got us both dressed.

I then made us both lunch. (Does the mess ever end? No, no it does not, lol.) I made chicken nuggets, cheese sticks, and toast for Shane and a frozen meal for myself. After lunch I put Shane down for a nap.

1:00 pm: This is where I usually fall off the picture bangwagon. Tommy came home and we talked for a long time about our days and just some life changes we were thinking about making.

3:00 pm: Told you guys I was tired, haha I took an hour and a half nap at 3! This is very rare but happens more often while pregnant. I felt so much better once I slept.

4:30 pm: Shane woke up from his nap. I gave him some milk and let him watch one episode of his favorite horse show. (Spirit on Netflix).

5:15 pm: Tommy read to Shane while I did some budgeting. Then Tommy ran to the food store to pick up a few things we needed for the week and dinner that night.

5:50 pm: While Tommy was gone, I played “tracks” aka trains with Shaney. Then he asked me to read to him again. Boy does this kid love to read!

6:20 pm: Tommy starts cooking dinner and is playing with Shane while it cooks. Shane likes to go up to Tommy and hold up his fists and says, “fight, fight”, which means he wants Tommy to wrestle/chase him. It’s the cutest thing ever. While they’re playing I decide to read a little bit of a book because I’m tired of wasting time on social media.

6:30 pm: We sit down to eat dinner together. On this night we had hot dogs and french fries. #superhealthy! We try to bribe Shane to eat a bit of his hot dog. It takes forever but he finally eats two pretty big bites so we call that a win!

7:00 pm: We go back into the living room to hang out before bed. Shane wants to read yet again lol so Tommy reads to him again while I read my book.

7:20 pm: Tommy heads outside to work on Etsy for a few minutes. He cuts the wood for some orders we have for these kitchen organizers.

7:45 pm: Tommy comes back inside and we start Shane’s bedtime routine. Tommy puts him in his pajamas, I read him a book while he drinks his milk, Tommy brushes his teeth, and then I put him to bed.

8:00 pm: We clean up the house: Tommy does the dishes, I clean up the rest of the rooms.

8:30 pm: We have a cookie and some milk while watching the show, I Am A Murder on Netflix. Holy cow that show was good but so intense. They interview people in jail who have killed someone and they tell stories of why they did it. So creepy but interesting.

9:45 pm: I take my prenatal vitamins, read one more chapter in my book since I’m not that tired from my long nap and then get ready for bed.

10:30 pm: Ready for some sleep!

Day In The Life: January 3, 2020

Hi friends, since I want to start blogging more regularly, I decided I want to do a day in the life post once a month. I love reading others’ day in the life posts and I think it will be really special to have these to look back on.

This was just a regular, very low key day. I hope you enjoy a peak into our very mundane, but special to us, life! 😉

5:45am: I woke up at 5:45 wide awake but laid in bed until 6:30.

6:30am- Decided it was time to stop wasting time on my phone and get up. I made some coffee with my new Ninja coffee maker that I got for Christmas and sat down to read my bible and journal.

7:30am- I started to get hungry so I had a yogurt, paid some bills then made breakfast. I forgot to take a picture of my full breakfast but I made breakfast potatoes and scrambled eggs with cheese.

I’ve been trying to eat a more balanced breakfast than just cereal because that’s all I’m used to eating and it barely fills me up. Eating a proper breakfast has been such a game changer.

9:00am- Shaney slept super late this day and woke up at 9! He’s been sleeping a lot more lately, probably because he’s fighting off a sinus infection. Poor bud.

I made him these waffles for breakfast. I alternate between buying these and Kodiak cake protein waffles for him. While he was eating I let him watch a TV show while I ate my breakfast and read some blogs.

10:00am- I had lots of laundry to do this day so I folded some and ran down into the basement to put some more into the wash. Noelley just napped all day. 😂

11:00am- Shaney and I read for a while. This is definitely his favorite activity by far! If he’s not requesting to watch “Froze” then he wants to read lots and lots of books. No complaints here!

12:00pm- We (I was) were feeling extra sleepy this day so I decided to watch a movie with Shaney while we waiting for Tommy to come home from work. He gets out at 12:00pm most days! I had really been wanting to show Shaney Monsters Inc. since it’s one of my favorites, so that’s what we watched. Shane really liked it.

Sometime while we were watching the movie I texted Tommy that I was really in the mood for Chinese food so he stopped on his way home and picked us up some delicious lunch that day!

1:00pm- Tommy came home and we all ate lunch together. Then we put Shaney down for his nap at 1:30.

2:00pm- I did the dishes from breakfast and lunch, switched over the laundry and while I was in the basement discovered that the pipes under out kitchen sink were leaking (again). We had just bought a new faucet about a month earlier because of the same problem.

Tommy got to work trying to figure it out. He had to run out to the hardware store to buy caulk, but ended up fixing the issue with enough time to get the dinner dishes done that night. 😉

3:00pm- While he was working on the sink, I started working on an Etsy order. I painted the decal on this kitchen organizer and got everything else together that we needed to finish it.

4:30pm- Had to wake Shaney up from his nap otherwise he was never going to go to sleep at a reasonable time that night. So thankful for a boy who loves to sleep! 😂

We just hung out together for a while until it was time to make dinner. (Yes Shaney did indeed stay in his pajamas all day.)

5:30-7:30pm- I honestly don’t remember who made dinner or what we ate this night but I think Tommy made dinner. We ate and then Tommy and I talked about changes at his job and then I read some more to Shane.

7:30pm- Shaney had a bath and then I nursed him and put him to bed at 8.

8:15pm- Tommy and I cleaned up the house before relaxing. Tommy generally does the dishes while I clean up the rest of the house.

8:30-10:00pm- Tommy and I talked and caught up for the day without a toddler demanding our attention.

10:00pm- We went to bed but I wasn’t tired yet so Tommy went to sleep (since he wakes up at 4 am) while I read some blogs.

11:30pm- I got sucked into reading blogs and went to bed entirely too late at 11:30. It’s really a struggle for me to go to bed early as I’m a natural night owl. I just really would rather be a morning person so I try to go to bed early so I can get up early, but that doesn’t always happen.

Thanks for following along! What does a typical day in your life look like?

    A Day In The Life

Hi friends. I hope you had a great weekend! I’ve been wanting to write a day in the life post for a while now, but I can never remember to take pictures for it. I decided to just use all of the pictures from over the course of a few days and try my best to show you what a normal day looks like for me. Although that’s tough in itself because I don’t usually do the same thing every day. But I will try my best.

I’m also writing this post because I love reading other bloggers day in the life posts and because I want to document what my life looks like right now so I have it to look back on. I did another Day In The Life post back in September of 2015. You can check that out here, it’s so fun to look back and see how different my life is now!

    8:00-9:00 AM

I usually wake up anywhere between 8 and 9. I’m trying to train myself to wake up earlier but it just doesn’t seem to be working right now, haha. So I wake up around then and always make myself coffee first then sit down at my desk and plan my day. On this particular day I spent 4 hours cleaning. I usually try to read or do yoga every day, but it definitely doesn’t happen that often.

Next, I always spend time reading my bible and finish drinking my coffee. The way I’ve been doing this for the past year and half or so is just to read straight through the bible. I’m currently on Jeremiah and typically read 2 chapters a day. Sometimes I journal about what’s going on in my life, but usually only if I haven’t in a while or if something big just happened and I want to document it.

Next, I’m trying to get into creating a habit of praying for Tommy right after I finish reading my bible. If I don’t do it right then, I usually will forget to do it. It’s been working too. I’ve prayed for Tommy the past few days because of this system. I use the prayer outline that I wrote here on the blog as a guideline. (You can find that here if you’re interested. I also have a How To Pray For Your Marriage guideline here.)

    9:00-11:00 AM

I don’t have a picture for this part of my day but I usually will “get ready” and eat breakfast before I start working. I wrote about how important I found both of these things to be in this post. Basically every day I eat Cheerios because I actually hate breakfast, haha. I just eat it because if I don’t I feel really icky. Getting ready usually consists of me straightening up the house as well (making the bed, straightening up the living room, etc.).

After I’m finished getting dressed and eating I will usually write a blog post. I try to stay at least one day ahead of schedule but sometimes that just doesn’t happen and I end up writing that day’s post that morning, which I’m learning to be okay with. I want to get better at this though because when I wait for the same day to write it, I feel so much more stressed. My day goes much smoother when I’m at least a day ahead of schedule.

Oh and usually during this timeline I will also get caught up on reading other bloggers posts for that day too. This is one of my favorite parts of the morning!

    11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Yesterday during this time I made a grocery list and ran to the store because my cousin and her boyfriend came over for dinner. I stayed very busy and made this bread and banana bread for when they came over.

I was listening to music the whole time I was cooking and it made it so fun. I already enjoy cooking so when I have some music to sing along to, I have so much more fun.

    2:00-5:00 PM

Tommy came home around 2:30 and this is always the highlight of my day. I am obviously home by myself all morning so it’s a nice change of pace when he comes home. We talk and catch up on our days and usually eat lunch together.

This day we had frozen pizza. Some days we have leftovers, and others we make breakfast. It’s really nice to be able to spend most of the day with Tommy.

I then went back to cooking because I had to cook the actual meal for that night (since I had already made the bread and dessert).

I was following a recipe off of my computer, which is very typical of me. For this night I was following the Beef Bourguignon that Jen Hatmaker wrote in her book For The Love. It wasn’t quite as good as she made it sound haha but it wasn’t bad. It could also have been because I didn’t have a dutch oven but oh well!

This is what the kitchen looked like while I was cooking. We then cleaned up (Tommy did the dishes because I told him it was his turn because I had already done them 3 times that day haha and we do not own a dishwasher.) Then we relaxed for a few minutes until my cousin and her boyfriend came over.

    5:00-8:00 PM

My cousin and her boyfriend were over. I didn’t take any pictures because I don’t like being the person to make people pose for pictures but I might have to get over that so I can better document my days. We ate dinner and dessert and just sat at the table for most of the night talking. It was really nice.

This was what the yummy banana bread looked like. It was Cinnamon Streusel Banana Bread. I found the recipe from my all time favorite baker. You can find the recipe here if you’d like to make it. Oh and it’s also Paleo so it’s pretty healthy too!

    9:00-10:00 PM

We had coffee and tea and then Nichole and Emil (her boyfriend) left. Tommy and I watched an episode of How To Get Away With Murder (we usually watch Netflix before bed) then headed to bed around 10ish.

I wouldn’t say this is a typical day for us since we don’t usually have guests over for dinner, but everything besides that part of a day is a typical day so I guess it’s kind of close to what a usual day would look like. The morning was a very standard one for me and we 99% of the time end the day with some Netflix.

What does your typical day look like? If you have a blog written like this, share the link below. I love reading about other people are up to and how similar (or different) their day is from mine.
